The arrival until the start of the trip

After a long flight with one stop in Chicago and one in Panamá, I finally arrived in Guayaquil last tuesday. After a relaxing night I did a test ride with my Versys and it was just terrible.
The guy, which calls himself a mechanic in Quito wasn't able to fix anything... But fortunately I bought the sensor in Switzerland and brought it to here. I've then shown the bike to a local mechanic here, and he put the sensor into the bike in about 1 minute and that was it.  Can you believe that it can take one guy two and a half months to fix nothing and still asking for 450 USD and another guy it takes 1 minute and does it for free? Conclusion, not everybody who calls himself a master is a master and not everybody who seems nice is actually nice 😁

Anyway, the bike 'seems' to work fine, except an unusual sound, which is possibly the gas pump or whatever... I'll give it a try. No risk, no fun.

During this week, we also had time to replace the tire of the Suzuki DRZ 400 and do some last cosmetics at the bikes, buy locks and so on.

Today, Monday, 7th of August, we test-packed two of our bikes, and it doesn't seem to be a problem to take all our stuff with us. :-)

We're just waiting for the last of us, Mathias, which had a kind of complicated arrival. Specifically, his luggage didn't arrive when he arrived yesterday, so he was doing some touristic stuff with a friend in Guayaquil until the luggage finally arrived tonight.

If nothing unexpected happens tonight, we'll start our trip tomorrow and I hope I can post a little from my mobile or I'll be back in about two months, as Im not taking my laptop with me.

Next stops: Tumbes, Piura, Trujillo, Lima, Cusco, La Paz, Uyuni and probably Chile and back to Ecuador via la costa.

Chao, hasta pronto!
