Day 5, 12th of August: ¡Vamos a Trujillo!

Still in the north of Peru, where it's starting to be hot in the morning, we're getting ready for some more Panamericana-kilometers. The night was calm and relaxing. Our plan was to arrive in Trujillo, crossing Chiclayo and Pacasmayo. Every mornings ritual after camping: disassemble the tents, chairs, packing all the stuff and trash on the bikes, get into the moto gear, even when it was really hot. Sweating is part of the adventure, well, at least for now.

Stopping at a gas station to clean the dishes of last night, check and fill up the tires and the tanks and buy water for the trip as a guy asked us where we're going. He immediately wanted to help us finding the way. Apparently, this is the way you help others with the directions.

We arrived in Chiclayo at 10 a.m. where we unfortunately didn't use the GPS navigation and thus didn't take the optimal way through it. That means, we got stuck in the terrible city center traffic for about one hour. Good thing for two of us as programmers, we for the first time experienced a real-life "dead lock". :-D

Anyway, after lunch at about 2 p.m. we stopped in a smaller city called Pacasmayo where we just wanted to relax our legs and find a restaurant to drink something and go to the bathroom.

During our search we "accidentally" encountered these beautiful places and a place where we thought could finally be a restaurant.

Turned out that it was the private birthday party of Carlos. When they saw us, they directly invited us to stay and participate the party. After a drink and some snacks we sadly had to move along direction Trujillo.

Finally arrived in Trujillo we used the help of the Hostelworld application to find a nice but also cheap hostel and chose the "Hostel Orquideas", which was a really good place with totally friendly people. We met a Venezuelan father with his daughter "living" there, "hoping" for better situations in Venezuela or until the rest of the family could come to Peru. They invited us to show us the city, find a laundry and go to have dinner. Unfortunately, the laundries were all closed, cause it was Sunday evening. Nevertheless, the "Chifa", a Chinese restaurant, was very delicious.

We went to bed early again after a few beers in a bar and collected some idea for the next day in Trujillo.
